University of Tübingen: Opening of the exhibition “Drawing in Motion”

The Japanese light artist Takehito Koganezawa was the fourth invited artist at the University of Tübingen in the summer of 2022. This program invites internationally renowned and innovative artists to Tübingen, who give students access to contemporary art. Takehito Koganezawa takes a completely new approach to drawing: moving, ephemeral, intangible. He implemented this form with students in a workshop. The results were recorded in a complex undertaking for the public presentation “Drawing in Motion” in the Museum of the University of Tübingen MUT.

At the opening of the exhibition on

Friday, August 19, 2022 at 7 p.m. in the MUT at Hohentübingen Castle

Media representatives and the interested public are cordially invited.

Among others, the artist Takehito Koganezawa himself and the participating students, the rector of the university, Professor Bernd Engler, the director of the MUT, Professor Ernst Seidl, and the Tübingen honorary senator Dr. Ursula Schwitalla. After the presentation, the MUT invites you to a small summer drink in the castle courtyard.

In his work, Koganezawa focuses on drawing with light, especially in underground spaces. This presentation shows what he did with the students in the catacombs on the Morgenstelle, in underground car parks, in the cellars of the castle or even in the Vogelherd Cave – an important site where the Ice Age art exhibited in the castle was found. The exhibition “Drawing in Motion” is accompanied by a publication of the same name from MUT’s Invited Artist series.
