University of Warwick Hosts Sikhs in Academia Conference, Championing Diversity and Innovation
The University of Warwick will host the Sikhs in Academia Conference, set to take place on 8th June, in celebration of the contributions of Sikhs in various academic fields.
This event will gather scholars, professionals, and students to explore the key role these individuals play in academia through presentations, discussions, and networking opportunities, reinforcing the importance of Sikh values in academia.
Dr Harjinder Singh Lallie, Associate Professor at the University of Warwick, a key organiser and speaker at the event, expressed his enthusiasm: “This conference is a testament to the rich academic contributions of Sikhs around the world. It provides a platform for sharing knowledge, fostering collaboration, and inspiring future generations.”
The conference will feature prominent figures such as Dr Gurnam Singh, renowned for his work on the Sikh Chaplaincy Project, and Professor Kiran Trehan, Pro-Vice Chancellor at the University of York, who will discuss leadership in the university sector.
Additionally, Dr Avtar Singh Matharu from the University of York will present on green chemistry and sustainability, while Professor Harbinder Sandhu will highlight her groundbreaking work helping people with Opioid Treated Chronic Pain.
Key topics to be covered include public health initiatives, sustainability in healthcare, the Sikh lived experience in the workplace, and innovative research methodologies.
