University of Washington: Compliance and Risk Services Welcomes Public Records, Records Management, and Privacy Officer
President Ana Mari Cauce and Provost Tricia Serio announced an organizational restructuring that brings the offices of Public Records and Open Public Meetings, Records Management Services, and the Privacy Officer functions into Compliance and Risk Services to better serve the University community and the public. The changes are an extension of additional restructuring previously announced to form the expanded Office of Finance, Planning and Budgeting.
Jane Yung, who served as the executive compliance and risk officer, will be vice president and chief compliance and risk officer, and continue to report directly to President Cauce.
“This realignment will improve our institution’s effectiveness in serving these vital functions and will make this work more streamlined and efficient, consistent with our duty to steward the public resources entrusted to us,” said UW President Ana Mari Cauce. “We are grateful to Jane for taking on the leadership of this crucial endeavor.”
By aligning departments with similar missions and functions into one division, the University can continue to provide a high level of service to faculty, staff, students and the public, Yung said.
“I am honored by and grateful to President Cauce and Provost Serio for giving me this opportunity. Compliance and Risk Services is privileged to serve the University in significant and meaningful ways. Our goal is to do so with quality, productivity and humility. I look forward to working with our new colleagues and University leadership,” Yung said.
University officials plan to conduct assessments of the compliance and risk service functions and calibrate areas for improvement. Public Records and Open Public Meetings, Records Management and the Privacy Officer function now merge with existing offices in Compliance and Risk Services, which can be found here.
Yung began her UW career in 2017. She previously served for 14 years as counsel to the University, and as past president of the Washington State Society of Healthcare Attorneys. Yung received her juris doctor from the University of Washington School of Law.
