University should guide in the implementation of National Education Policy
Bhopal : Governor Smt. Anandiben Patel has said that government and private universities should come forward to guide in the execution of various aspects for the successful implementation of the National Education Policy. The Universities should reflect groupwise on the various aspects of employment-oriented education, curriculum building, bringing research out of the labs to practice, quality education, primary and secondary level education system, internship, credit score and teachers training. Smt. Patel was addressing the Vice Chancellors at the video conference during a review of the academic activities of the government universities in Raj Bhavan today. Higher Education Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Vice Chancellors of Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Barkatullah and Devi Ahilya Government University were present during the video conference.
Governor Smt. Patel said that the first 5 years of successful implementation of National Education Policy is of immense importance. This is the basis of the success of the policy. In this also the first 3 years of Anganwadi is very important. The method and system of bringing up children in anganwadi should be such that children can easily learn by listening, playing with toys. Qualities like discipline, respect, cleanliness, compassion, service, affection and fraternity should be instilled in them. Similarly, in primary education, the story, context, fixing of subjects and development of arrangements for teachers training is important. How to implement a system like internship at the secondary level. How to determine its form. Discussion on many such dimensions is necessary for successful implementation. Symposiums must be organised by the university on a wide scale on the implementation framework. Whatever is good, it should be sought and integrated. The way of implementation must be highligted.
Smt. Patel said that work with the custom and policy of innovative thinking should be done in the field of higher education. Each university should identify the dimensions of policy based on its expertise. Prepare the design and layout for the implementation of work. Universities in industrial areas should select and build courses after conducting survey and research on the teaching-training needs of employment oriented education. Similarly, other universities too, should prepare an action plan for successful implementation of every aspect of the National Education Policy by deciding the expertise area. She stressed the need for organizing a series of webinars on the National Education Policy. She instructed the teachers to do one of their own courses online in a year. Smt. Patel asked the participants of self-employment training programmes to cooperate in establishing coordination with financial institutions in setting up self-employment. She instructed all the Vice-Chancellors to apply for NAAC grading compulsorily. Smt. Patel asked to organize cleanliness programme on the Prime Minister’s birthday in villages adopted by universities and to take responsibility of nutrition of children suffering from T.B. and to take initiative to plant 100 saplings in all universities.
