University welcomes students and staff back to campus

The University of Melbourne will warmly welcome students and staff back to campus for the start of Semester 1, after more than two years of remote learning, teaching and working.

Starting with Melbourne Orientation from 21 February, the University will reactivate its campuses with a festival of face-to-face activities and events that will continue throughout semester. From Monday 28 February the majority of coursework subjects will be offered on campus.

Students who remain overseas and are unable to join in person will continue to be fully supported, with online study and engagement options, as well as travel, accommodation and financial support to help them travel to Australia.

“The University community has demonstrated great resilience and dedication over prolonged periods of remote learning and working. We are incredibly optimistic about 2022 and are getting ready to come together and enjoy the vibrant campus experience that has been sorely missed,” said University of Melbourne Provost Professor Nicola Phillips.

“This is an exciting time for the University, and we look forward to welcoming all our students and staff as they arrive from around the country and the world, while continuing to support those unable to join us at this stage.

“Being part of campus life is a great way to contribute to creating a vibrant and supportive scholarly community, where both students and staff thrive.’’

The University of Melbourne continues to operate in accordance with the latest public health guidelines and will consult with staff in accordance with health and safety obligations along the way.

“Just as we have done over the past two years, the University continues to ensure a safe and healthy campus environment for everyone to enjoy. This includes publishing the latest information about our safety measures on a dedicated COVID-19 website, which now features updated content on returning to campus,’’ Professor Phillips said.
