University Women’s Polytechnic Organizes Two-Day Orientation Programme

 

Aligarh : The University Women’s Polytechnic at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) hosted a two-day orientation programme for its newly admitted students recently. The event aimed to familiarize the students with the campus environment, introduce them to faculty members, and provide insights into the educational system and resources available at the university.

In her welcome address, Dr. Salma Shaheen, Principal of the University Women’s Polytechnic, emphasized the importance of the orientation programme. She mentioned, “This programme plays a crucial role in helping students transition into a new educational environment. It helps them acclimate to a new campus, promotes a vital connection with academic activities, and facilitates networking with peers.”

Prof. Veena Maheshwari, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Principal of JNMC, also highlighted the significance of the orientation programme in setting students on the right path. She stated, “Being a part of AMU is about growth, development, and mutual support.”

The first session of the orientation program included an address by Dr. Faiza Abbasi, Director of the UGC HRD College at AMU. She delivered a presentation on the distinguished history of AMU, emphasizing that Sir Syed’s contributions extend well beyond education and social reforms.

The second day of the orientation programme was marked by the presence of Professor Waseem Ahmad, Proctor, AMU, and Professor Rafiuddin, Dean of Student’s Welfare. They provided invaluable insights into the expectations and responsibilities of student life at AMU, emphasizing adherence to the Students’ Code of Conduct 1985 and encouraging students to utilize the university’s excellent sports and academic facilities.

Throughout the programme, students were also introduced to various faculty members and briefed on the campus’s facilities by Dr. Sheeba Manzoor and Dr. Ajmal Kafeel, Section In-charges at the University Women’s Polytechnic. Presentations on the course curriculum and academic ordinances were delivered by Ms. Amrah Maryam and Dr. Shahnawazuddin, respectively, providing students with a comprehensive overview of their academic journey ahead.

Dr. Jahangir Alam, Associate Professor in the Computer Engineering Section, assisted in managing the proceedings of the programme, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Syeda Shira Moin.
