Unlocking the Mysteries of the Urals: Ural Federal University Welcomes International Students

On September 14, the Center for International Student Mobility and Recruitment together with international students, including those on exchange programs, went to the Urals town of Nevyansk – the homeland of the famous Demidovs. They also visited Byngi and Tavolgi.

A rich program awaited the students: they visited the Nevyansk Tower – a symbol of power and might of the Demidovs in the Urals. The Leaning Tower of Nevyansk is an unsolved mystery of the Urals. During the excursion, the students got acquainted with its history and climbed to the observation platform. The excursion included a visit to the Saviour-Transfiguration Cathedral (the largest and the main temple of Nevyansk).

The international students also visited the pottery production to attend a master class and learn about the potter’s wheel. More than 200 years ago the traditions of pottery production were established in the Nevyansk district, and everyone could feel like a master: smoothing out clay on the potter’s wheel, or painting a clay toy.
