upGrad outlines growth plans; aims to add 100+ online programs in the next 24 months

Mumbai : Aligned with its vision of becoming the trusted LifeLongLearning partner for millions, upGrad, Asia’s higher EdTech major, today unveiled its plans of adding 100+ online programs in the next 24 months. The announcement comes at a time when the pandemic-driven tech evolution has created a huge demand-supply gap for a skilled workforce within the country.

upGrad is probably the only higher EdTech in the country to have a diversified portfolio with cutting-edge online programs with top-notch university partners ranging from Bachelors to Masters and a Doctorate, all under one roof with a host of career services. With the latest technology, pedagogy, industry partners, and world-class faculty, the company creates immersive online learning experiences for its learners globally and currently offers programs in the areas of Data, Management, Software & Technology, Business Analytics, Law, Digital Marketing, Criminology, Health, amongst others.

Speaking on the expansion plans, Arjun Mohan, CEO-India, upGrad commented, “upGrad started with just 1 program and here we are today, with a vast set of online courses across diverse domains to support our learners in their LifeLongLearning journey, not just in India but across ~100 countries. Now as we move forward, the new additions which are going to be more focused and niche shall further encourage professionals to upskill online and attain advanced skills without having them to bear the opportunity cost.”

According to the World Economic Forum (WEF), by 2025, around 85 million people will lose their jobs. However, over the same period, 97 million new jobs will be created, these will require very different skills. Without the ability to reskill people quickly, and at scale, millions will potentially be displaced from work. This indicates that upskilling is imperative and one of the most important things professionals can do to not only retain their current job roles but also to move up in their careers or make meaningful career transitions.

upGrad curriculum involves both, live and recorded lectures by industry leaders and veterans, masterclasses, and graded assignments for strengthening the subject foundation, along with frequent networking sessions, and steadfast career support for driving meaningful career outcomes.

“The outcome-driven education is aimed at equipping professionals with job-ready skills for the real-time application,” he added.

The EdTech major has been growing by leaps and bounds and has recently crossed the annual revenue run rate of USD 210 Mn in September this year. With the outlined growth plan, upGrad is now moving strongly towards achieving the ambition of becoming the global leader in the higher-EdTech space.
