UQ researchers drive positive change with support from the Westpac Scholars Trust
Two University of Queensland researchers have received almost $770,000 from the Westpac Scholars Trust to progress innovative research projects and support their leadership development.
Optical scientist, Dr Mickael Mounaix has received the prestigious 2024 Westpac Research Fellowship – one of only two to be awarded nationally.
Dr Mounaix will use his funding to progress research into light manipulation, which will ultimately help to advance communication and biomedical imaging technologies.
This will contribute to the development of more robust internet infrastructure aiming to increase capacity and enhance biomedical imaging to support improved healthcare diagnostics.
PhD candidate, Brynlea Gibson has been named a 2024 Westpac Future Leader to support her research into the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education.
Ms Gibson’s research will explore how AI tutors and aids have the potential to influence educational outcomes, drive efficiencies and foster greater access to higher education.
