On August 16, the results of the annual open competition for Russian Government Scholarships became available. 23 students and 17 PhD students of Ural Federal University became winners of the competition. They were awarded scholarships for outstanding achievements in academic and scientific fields in the course of their studies.

“My achievements are publications in various scientific journals and conference proceedings. At the moment there are about 25 of them. During my four years of Bachelor’s Degree at Ural Federal University, I actively participated in the Department’s research. Now, during my Master’s Degree, I continue to conduct research. I study social media, tools of “soft power,” as well as the topic of adaptation of international students through communicative technologies,” said Yulia Kukharenko, a second-year Master’s student of the Department of Applied Sociology at Ural Federal University.

It should be noted that in 2022 UrFU became the leader in terms of the number of PhD students who received scholarships among all universities and institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Russia. In 2021, Ural Federal University shared the first and second lines with Tomsk State University (each university received 18 scholarships), while in 2020 it ranked third (8 scholarships).

“For the third year in a row, our university has been in the top three for the number of scholarships for PhD students. I believe it demonstrates that young scientists are well qualified and that they have a serious research background. It is noteworthy that eight of our PhD students received the scholarship for the second year in a row, and two PhD students received it for the third year in a row,” emphasized Darya Shatunova, Head of the Office of Youth Science Support and Organization of Research Events at UrFU.
