The Office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Ural Federal District will continue to provide maximum assistance in the work of the Ural Interregional Research and Education Center of the world level (UIREC) “Advanced industrial technologies and materials”.

This was stated by Anna Lenskaia, aide to the plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Ural Federal District, when summing up the interim results of the center’s work in 2020.

“A year and a half ago, we started to create a world-class center based on the integration of universities, scientific organizations and cooperation with the real sector of the economy,” said Anna Lenskaya. – The volume of financing from non-budgetary sources (enterprises) over five years should amount to about 10.9 billion rubles. UIREC is in many ways a unique structure, because we managed to unite three independent regions on parity terms. This is a new opportunity for mutually beneficial cooperation and development of our three territories.”

Anna Lenskaya thanked the governors of the Sverdlovsk, Kurgan and Chelyabinsk regions. In many respects, the work on UIREC was the well-coordinated interaction of all participants. UIREC’s development showed decent results, as the Center’s project won in federal contest at the end of last year. The enterprises of the real sector of the economy contribute vastly to the work of the center. As for the direct support of REC from their budgets, it should amount to 812 million rubles in five years.

According to Anna Lenskaya, the UIREC relies not only on the university scientific and educational foundation, although universities of the regions have great potential and significant developments here, but also on the foundation of academic science – the Russian Academy of Sciences. Thanks to the support of Valery Charushin, President of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, this idea received very important support.

“The work on the creation of UIREC began in the spring of 2019,” recalls Anna Lenskaya. – Then this idea was actively supported by the plenipotentiary representative of the President of Russia Nikolai Tsukanov, who soon headed the supervisory board of the center. In December 2020, the new Representative Vladimir Yakushev also supported this project. Representative Iakushev is focused on supporting all regions of the district that are part of the UIREC. And we very much hope that further cohesive work of all participants will give the desired results and we will witness breakthrough scientific developments.”

The Sverdlovsk Region initiated the creation of the Ural Interregional Research and Education Center of the world level (UIREC) “Advanced industrial technologies and materials”. Ural Federal University acts as a project office. Universities, academic institutions, enterprises, as well as the governments of the Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk and Kurgan regions are actively involved in the development of the center. In 2020, the center has developed more than 250 technologies for implementation at industrial enterprises
