Ural Federal University Alumni Launch New Association Branch in Mongolia
Alumni of the Ural Federal University and the Ural Polytechnic Institute (UPI, now UrFU), about 100 people in total, joined the representative office of the Mongolian Alumni Association of UPI, UrSU, and UrFU established today in Erdenet, the country’s third largest city and its industrial center. A meeting with the university management preceded this.
“The leading engineers of the enterprise are our graduates, including those who graduated from UrFU within the last ten years. Now the mining and processing plant and the university are linked by dozens of technological, scientific, and educational projects. All of them have become possible thanks to the graduates,” says Alexander Ponomaryov, Executive Director of the Association of Alumni of UPI, UrSU, and UrFU.
Barnyambu Altangerel was nominated by Batar Manganbayar, the authorized representative of UrFU in Erdenet and a member of the board of the Mongolian Alumni Association, as the chairman of the branch. Five more people joined the board.
“Russia and Mongolia have the friendliest relations. We have a lot in common, and we are pleased that alumni support our key projects and actively participate in them,” emphasized Sergey Tushin, UrFU Vice-Rector for International Relations, telling the graduates about the current stage of the university’s development.
The decision to open a new association of Mongolian alumni was made by the association’s board members on Monday in Ulaanbaatar. The key joint initiatives of the Erdenet ASG and UrFU were discussed today by the university’s Rector Victor Koksharov.
