Ural Federal University: Astronomy and Metallurgy Forge Strong Ties in Cooperation with Chilean Scientists
A delegation of the Bernardo O’Higgins University (Santiago, Chile) visited the Ural Federal University. During the negotiations, the representatives of both universities outlined the points of possible cooperation. First of all, the cooperation will be focused on astronomy and metallurgy. In addition, colleagues from Chile are interested in exchanging experience in obtaining grants and developing student start-ups.
“Metallurgy and mining are very important for your region and Chile. In addition, we have a project that we dream of realizing: the restoration of an observatory. Soviet scientists created it, now it is not working and can be perfectly suitable for educational purposes,” said Claudio Ruff Escobar, Rector of the Bernardo O’Higgins University.
Student and academic exchanges, as well as joint research, are also possible collaborations.
Bernardo O’Higgins University (Universidad Bernardo O’Higgins, UBO) is a private institution ranked in the top 1200 of the QS World University Rankings. The university develops both basic and applied research within its four faculties and 10 research centers.
The delegation also visited the Research, Education and Innovation Center of Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies and the Institute of Physics and Technology.
