Ural Federal University Celebrates Anniversary with Spectacular May Walk in Ekaterinburg

The 40th May Walk took place in Ekaterinburg on September 17. Despite the fact that the event was postponed from May to September due to forest fires, 7,250 pedestrians took part. The routes were laid out in the city center and in the southeastern suburbs and passed through the territory of the Russian Forestry Park, Uktusky, Nizhne-Isetsky, Sanatorny, and Shartashsky Forest Parks.

“The most popular route was a new route for the action – “Isetsky Promenade” at 10 km. Participants walked through the city center and finished near the Ural Federal University. The longest distance – 50 km – was completed by 522 heroes,” the organizers say.

The organizers treated the citizens with tea and traditional gingerbread. Along the routes, it was possible to take part in various activities: pass the GTO (Ready for Labor and Defense) test and plant a tree. To celebrate the anniversary of the action, the organizers published a unique postcard and a book. The postcard could be sent at the finish line anywhere in the world, and the book in electronic form will appear in the social networks of the action.
