Ural federal university: Consul General of Cyprus Discussed Tourism Development During the Pandemic With UrFU Students
Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus Maria Simeonidou visited the Ural Federal University. Representatives of the diplomatic mission and employees of major tour operators specializing in the Cyprus market were invited by second-year students of the Tourism direction.
The profile conference is dedicated to Cyprus as a tourist destination – “Cyprus: A New Look at Rest – 2021”. Top-managers of the suppliers of tour operators, having a rest in this direction, were also the speakers.
The topic of the speech by the representatives of the consulate was the features of tourism support during the pandemic. Cyprus has been preparing for admission since December 2020 and only on May 10 uses the borders for Russians. The Consul General emphasized the interest in the Russian market and thanked the students for the initiative in organizing the meeting.
“The preparation of the conference was carried out by the second-year students of the“ Tourism ”direction in project education. Special thanks to the representatives of the tourist community who spare no time and share relevant information and professional secrets. It’s nice to see them graduates of the department,” says Ekaterina Chilova, lecturer at the Department of Social and Cultural Service and Tourism at Ural Institute of Humanities, and project manager.
Representatives of tour operators spoke about the many opportunities for vacationers in Cyprus, where beach, historical and cultural, gastronomic, ecological and active tourism are available. According to experts, Cyprus is a youth destination, where not only club Ayia Napa is interesting, but also new points on the map of affordable recreation appear.
For more than 20 years, the Department of Social and Cultural Service and Tourism of UrFU has been preparing specialists for the tourism sector in demand on the domestic and global markets. In 2021, it entered the top 100 in the Hospitality and Leisure category of the QS international subject ranking. Conducts training under the bachelor’s program “Process management at tourism and hospitality enterprises”, master’s degree “Strategic management and applied research in international tourism and hospitality” and professional development of personnel.
