Ural Federal University Expert Receives The 9th Level Stage Golden GTO Badge
Elena Filonova, an Associate Professor at the Department of Physical Chemistry of the Ural Federal University, has been awarded the 9th level golden GTO (“Ready for Labor and Defense”) badge. She completed all seven disciplines required for the gold standard: 2 kilometres run, bending from a standing position on a gymnastics bench, push-ups, sit-ups, shooting with electronic weapons, 2 kilometres cross-country skiing, and 3 kilometres Nordic walking.
“I am 50 years old now and I am not going to stop. My age group in the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Complex GTO is 50-54 years old. I plan to collect the whole GTO collection at this level: bronze, silver, gold. I want to show that UrFU scientists not only publish their works in the most prestigious world journals and are members of the editorial boards of the best scientific journals, but also set goals in the field of sports,” says Elena Filonova.
In 2021, Elena Filonova received the golden badge of the 8th level GTO (40-49 years old), having completed all seven required disciplines for the gold standard: endurance test (2 kilometres run), flexibility (bending from a standing position on a gymnastics bench), strength (push-ups) along with sit-ups, 50 metres swimming, shooting with air rifles, 30 metres run.
Elena Filonova has a PhD in Chemistry. She is an Associate Professor, author (h-index – 16) of 66 scientific publications in WoS and Scopus indexed journals. She works on the creation of materials for hydrogen energy used in fuel cells and electrochemical cells (solid oxide fuel cell – SOFC – and electrolysis cell – SOEC), teaches physical chemistry, statistical thermodynamics, a course on scientometric databases.
