Ural Federal University: Experts Discuss How to Support IT Professionals in Russia

To keep IT specialists in the country, it is necessary to support specialized events and finance programmers’ startups. With this approach, Ekaterinburg can become an even more developed IT city. This was discussed yesterday by Ilya Obabkov, Director of the Engineering School of Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Control Systems of Ural Federal University, at a press conference in TASS, which was devoted to the development of human resources in the IT industry and measures to support IT specialists.

“What do IT people need to live and grow successfully in the country? An ecosystem that is constantly developing: interesting work tasks. Regular events: meetings, conferences, fairs, and good educational programs. Ural Federal University has created and is actively developing such a unique ecosystem, with advanced partner companies, challenging research tasks, and unique best practices in IT education. If the life of an IT specialist is full of events and activities, there will be much less reason to leave. Why go somewhere if you have an active IT life here! We need to support it,” said Ilya Obabkov.

The Director of the Engineering School and Nikita Kardashin, Head of the practice of complex digitalization of processes at Naumen, told about the current measures to support domestic IT companies, training and education of specialists, and development of the IT human resources market.

Over the past few years, UrFU has become the leading platform in the Ural region for training specialists in the IT industry. Every year the Engineering School of Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Control Systems improves its educational programs and is a leader in the scale of introduction of project-based learning at the university. Advanced companies cooperate with the institute, show real prospects of future employment and provide internships.
