Ural Federal University: German Program Alumni Discussed Sustainability Issues

Sustainability issues were the central theme of the Graduate Conference of German Programs in Ekaterinburg. On the main day of the event, Géza Andreas von Geyr, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Russia, spoke about promising directions of scientific cooperation between Russia and Germany.

“Climate protection issues will play a crucial role. Cooperation will also develop in related areas, as well as in infrastructure policy, the social sphere and the humanities. These are the areas that will unite Russia and Germany in the scientific sphere,” the Ambassador said.

According to his words, Russian and German specialists will jointly make a great contribution to the European system of solving global problems. The conference workshop program was devoted to the work in such directions. In eight sections the participants discussed questions of world globalization, the challenges of the industrial revolution, as well as e-mobility, the career prospects of young scientists and other issues.

The program of the Graduate Conference of German Academic Programs ended with a guided tour of the Yeltsin Center, and a special version of the Science Slam Twin Uni, with participation of scientists from Ekaterinburg, Dortmund and other German partner universities.
