Ural Federal University Hosts A Rapid Chess Tournament

A rapid chess tournament “Spring Game” was held in the main building of the Ural Federal University. The tournament was held in commemoration of Stanislav Naboychenko, the UrFU Former Rector and Honorary President.

The tournament traditionally attracts a lot of interest. A total of 96 participants (82 students and 14 faculty members) competed for prizes. International students also participated in the tournament. Each played nine games against random opponents. Players had eight minutes to play. Three seconds were added for each move.

The organizers divided the winners and runners-up into three groups. The best among the male contestants was Mikhail Evstratov, the second was Dmitriy Brazhnikov, and the third was Mikhail Korenkov. In the women’s category, the winner was Ekaterina Litvinenko, the second place went to Rizabek Akhzharkhyn, and the third to Lilya Kalimullina. The first place among faculty members was taken by Maxim Tret’yak, the second by Konstantin Khokhlov, and the third by Dmitriy Trynov.
