Ural Federal University Hosts Concert in Celebration of Defender of the Fatherland Day

The Ural Federal University celebrated the Defenders of the Fatherland Day. On February 22, veterans, university management, employees, and cadets of the Military Training Center gathered. Tatyana Kononova, the President of the Veterans’ Council of the Kirovsky District of Ekaterinburg, and Victor Koksharov, the Rector of the UrFU, made solemn speeches. Traditionally, in honor of the Defender of the Fatherland Day, the employees of the Military Training Center were awarded diplomas for their merits in their work.

There were four participants of World War II, 22 home front workers, one participant in the liquidation of the Chernobyl disaster, and 45 combat veterans.

“We are grateful to all veterans for their invaluable contribution to the defense of our Motherland, strengthening of the defense capability of our state, and training of highly professional personnel. Today we feel all the greatness of their fate, remember those who are no longer with us, wish our veterans a long life, and bow before the great generation of victors. They have done so much for the Motherland that cannot be measured or paid for. They saved the Fatherland, the lives of future generations, protected the world, restored towns and villages, made great achievements”, Victor Koksharov noted in his speech.

The solemn meeting ended with the awarding of epaulets to reserve officers, this year 158 people received them.
