Ural Federal University hosts the visit of Ethiopian Minister of Industry

Melaku Alabel Addis, Minister of Industry of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, visited the Ural Federal University.

During the meeting with the university representatives a number of issues were discussed, including scholarships for Ethiopian students, educational programs in management, light industry technologies, chemical industry, food technologies and medicine. In addition, Victor Koksharov, the rector of UrFU, told the guest about the upcoming University International Sports Festival in Ekaterinburg in August and invited the Ethiopian students to such a spectacular event.

Melaku Alabel Addis thanked Victor Koksharov for the invitation and expressed confidence that the number of UrFU students from Ethiopia will increase. According to him, the country’s enterprises are in high demand for qualified staff.

“We are interested in strengthening cooperation between two countries in the field of education,” said the Minister. – UrFU is one of the largest universities in Russia with a large number of educational programs of a very wide range. We are interested in many of these programs, and we are interested in attracting students from Ethiopia to study in Ekaterinburg, at the Ural Federal University. First of all, we are talking about engineering programs. Such specialists will certainly increase the competitiveness of our enterprises. We are also interested in student exchange programs. We had a very positive experience of cooperation during the Soviet period. These traditions are certainly worth continuing.”
