Ural Federal University Humanities Students Can Excel as Successful Product Managers in IT, Study Finds

Product Manager in IT is one of the most sought-after specializations today. In addition to the main specialization, it can be obtained by studying at the UrFU Digital Chair. The creators of the program “Training of Product Managers for the Development of IT Products and Projects Using the Python Programming Language” are sure that a representative of the humanities can easily become a successful product manager.

“The humanities students are the ones who have a human-centered approach, design thinking, and insight in terms of analyzing consumer preferences. They are good at programming, not to be developers, but to be translators from the language of consumers to the language of technical specialists. They are good strategists and see the image of the product”, says Viola Larionova, head of the educational program.

Viola Larionova also notes that a successful product manager should have such qualities as communication skills, intelligence, responsibility, analytical mind, and the knowledge gained in the educational program of the university’s digital department will help him or her in data-driven product management.
