Ural Federal University Launches A New Service Scientific Academic Mobility
The Ural Federal University has launched the service of Scientific Academic Mobility. It allows students and employees of the university to apply for participation in various scientific events and internships. The web service automates the process of paperwork – from submitting an application to providing reporting documents. The service was developed as part of the Priority-2030 Strategic Academic Leadership Program.
“The idea was to create a convenient interface that would systematize regulatory documents and automate procedures for participation in various scientific events. On the one hand, it will simplify the processing of necessary documents for participation in scientific academic mobility (from the application to the submission of reporting documents), and on the other hand, it will help to get an idea of the scientific activity of the university’s employees and students,” explains Andrey Korelin, Head of the Department for Monitoring Scientific Research, Equipment and Competitions at UrFU.
The service is available in the Personal Cabinet in the “Scientific Services” section. The portal has created forms of all documents required for participation in scientific events. To submit an application, you should fill in a simple form about the planned trip and add information about the field of research. After that, the application will be reviewed, verified and registered by the commission of each institute where the participant studies/works. On this basis, the UrFU expert committee or the travel grant administrator will make the final decision.
The creators of the project emphasize that the availability of academic mobility programs will allow scientists to conduct interdisciplinary and collaborative research more effectively.
“It is no secret that one of the main goals of scientific research in terms of sustainable development is to improve the quality of human life. The effectiveness of a researcher’s work – whether a scientist or a student – will grow only if there is an opportunity to present the results of their research to colleagues from other scientific teams of the Russian and global scientific community, including through scientific academic mobility. It is necessary not only to stimulate and expand the geography of scientific-academic events and internships, but also to create the necessary tools to simplify the process of registration of participation,” adds Andrey Korelin.
