Ural Federal University Memorializes Stanislav Naboychenko

Dozens of people gathered in the main building of the university to pay tribute to the former rector of the Ural Polytechnic University and one of the initiators of the creation of the Ural Federal University in Ekaterinburg. A memorial plaque to Stanislav Naboychenko was unveiled on the first floor.

The ceremony was opened by Sergey Kortov, the First Vice-Rector of the Ural Federal University. He reminded the audience of the challenges faced by Rector Naboychenko, his authority and kind attitude to his employees and, especially, to the students. The author of the composition, a member of the Union of Artists of Russia Fyodor Petrov, was among the participants. The composition of the plaque was cast in the workshop of Ivan Dubrovin, a graduate of the Metallurgical Faculty.

Vasily Kozlov, the deputy governor, and Leonid Rapoport, the Minister of Sports of the region, recalled the professional and personal qualities that made the university a leader in the country. Sergey Mamyachenkov, Head of the Department of Nonferrous Metallurgy, spoke about Stanislav Naboychenko as a scientist. Professor Naboychenko is warmly remembered by his students. The ceremony was also attended by scholarship holders named after him, who receive payments from the income of the endowment fund.
