On October 21, the Ural Federal University held the 67th reporting and elective conference of the Student Union. As a result, Mikhail Podkovyrkin, a Master’s student studying Social Activity and Professional Career Management at Ural Federal University, was elected as the new Chairman of the Union for two years. He succeeded Oybek Partov, who was chairman from 2019 to 2022.

In his opening speech at the event, Mikhail talked about the new team and the plans of the Student Union. In his presentation, he highlighted the team’s goals, values, and new structure, and presented ideas for new and existing projects.

“Dedication, interest and desire to develop the university and the community helped me to run for the position. The support of colleagues, students, family and friends was an important factor. The main goal I set for myself and my team is to create a useful, comfortable and safe environment for UrFU students,” said Mikhail Podkovirkin.

Of the 368 conference delegates, 358 voted for Mikhail.

“I will begin my work by strengthening the new team and establishing the work of new structural subdivisions, including: the department of legal work, the department of attracting budget investments, the department of development of student potential and others. I will also pay special attention to those units in which the leaders were replaced: the Association of Student Mentors, Academic Department, Department of Cultural and Massive and Sports Work”, shared his plans Mikhail Podkovirkin.
