Ural Federal University has successfully passed the audit of educational activities conducted by the certification association “Russian Register”.
The auditors assessed the compliance of the educational activities of the university with the international standard ISO 9001: 2015 and the Russian standard ISO 9001: 2015 “Quality management systems. Requirements “. They assessed the quality of implementation of educational programs, their compliance with established requirements, the work of teachers, complaints of students and faculty members, etc.
The experts noted several qualitative changes in the planning and implementation of educational activities at UrFU. Thus, the university has transferred to independently established educational standards 85 out of 128 educational bachelor’s programs, 110 out of 184 master’s programs, 4 out of 23 specialist programs. In addition, the development of the Praktika service has been completed through the Partner’s Personal Account. It allows you to interact with partners to conclude an agreement on the conduct of all types of student practices and to form applications for practice in areas and educational programs. In 2019–2020, a pilot project was successfully implemented to introduce a management system for individual educational trajectories at the Institute of Radio Electronics and Information Technologies of the Ural Federal University.
The auditors especially noted the achievements of the university in the field of distance learning. So, in March of this year, preparations for the transition to distance learning were successfully carried out, and the leaders of UrFU became part of the working groups for organizing the transition to distance learning under the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia.
The educational process at the university was transferred to the online format as soon as possible, and most of the teachers were able to use advanced teaching technologies. Almost all disciplines were provided with electronic resources on LMS platforms. More than 80 thousand hours of online lectures and practical classes were held at UrFU. Students got access to online courses on the platforms of NPOE, Coursera, edX. In just three months, we have created over 4 thousand courses in electronic format in LMS platforms. At the same time, the digitalization of monitoring the work of students led to the activation of their independent work. It is also important that during the pandemic, the university provided free access to online courses to 11,477 students from 43 Russian universities.
The results of the audit showed that the quality management system of the university’s educational activities is maintained and developed in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001: 2015 and ISO 9001: 2015. This applies to the development and application of independently established educational standards, design, development and implementation of basic educational programs for higher education, basic educational programs for training highly qualified personnel, as well as educational programs for additional education. And all this is clearly in accordance with the scope of licensing and state accreditation. An important role here was played by the use of e-learning technologies, the development and application of electronic educational resources in the educational process.
