Ural Federal University Placed Among Top 10 Russian Universities In Webometrics Ranking
The Ural Federal University took the tenth place among Russian universities in the latest Webometrics Ranking of World Universities. In comparison with the January ranking UrFU has moved up two places in Russia. This is the best indicator among all federal universities of the country. In addition, in the overall ranking the university has increased by 65 positions (819th place).
To compile the ranking, researchers evaluated about 32,000 universities from more than 200 countries, including 1,012 Russian universities. The published part includes about 12,000 universities in the world, of which 324 are Russian. The ranking is published twice a year by the Cybermetrics research group, which is part of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the largest public research organization in Spain.
The ranking is based on three indicators. The first is visibility – 50% (the number of external networks from which links to the university’s web pages come; data sources – Majestic and Ahrefs). The second is transparency – 10% (number of citations of the top 10 authors of each university; data sources – Google, Scholar, Profiles). Last but not least, excellence – 40% (the number of the university’s publications among the most cited publications in each of the 27 scientific fields in 2018-2022; data source – Scimago).
