Ural Federal University Promotes Cooperation with Morocco and Tunisia
From December 4 to 8, the International Office of the Ural Federal University held a series of meetings with representatives of universities in the Republic of Tunisia and the Kingdom of Morocco, as well as with Russian Centers for Science and Culture in these countries.
The universities’ representatives have discussed opportunities for strengthening scientific and educational cooperation. In particular, during a meeting with the representatives of the Higher Institute for Languages of the University of Carthage and Mohammed V University in Rabat participants considered options for establishing academic mobility programs for students, researchers and professors between the Ural Federal University and these educational and scientific institutions. The academic community in North Africa responded that there is a significant demand for education in Russia and Ekaterinburg in the region.
The Ural Federal University representative also visited Russian Houses in Tunisia and Rabat. The meetings were devoted to discussion of the development of relations between the Ural Federal University and Tunisia and Morocco. An understanding of the specifics of the educational market in these countries will help the UrFU to develop potential mechanisms for cooperation with their academic institutions. Some of the most sought-after areas in both countries are IT, economics and management as well as – especially in Tunisia – the study of the Russian language, history and culture of Russia.
The university expresses special gratitude to Yury Zaitsev, director of the Russian House in Tunisia, and Pyotr Yakhmenev, director of the Russian House in Rabat, as well as the staff of the Russian centres of science and culture in both countries for their assistance in facilitating the visit. In addition, UrFU would like to thank the University of Carthage and Mohammed V University in Rabat for the warm welcome. We are looking forward to further cooperation!
