Ural Federal University research center uses AI for signal and image processing
A research center for signal and image processing using artificial intelligence methods of the Engineering School of Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Control Systems was opened at Ural Federal University. The Head of the center is Mikhail Ronkin, Associate Professor of the Training and Research Center “Information Security”.
The center will promote the professional development of highly qualified specialists in the field of artificial intelligence. This is where students will have the opportunity to create their own AI projects, find like-minded people, collaborate with partner companies and develop their professional skills.
“Artificial intelligence is a developing and promising field that allows computers to perform tasks that require human intervention,” the institute noted.
Scientists at the UrFU are already training artificial intelligence, for example, for medical and industrial purposes. They plan to use a neural network to diagnose ophthalmologic pathologies and help mining companies determine the productivity of a quarry.
