Ural Federal University: Russian Prime Minister Visited UrFU
On July 5, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin visited Ural Federal University and reviewed the design of the university’s new campus. It is planned that the new academic buildings will complement the infrastructure of the World Student Games-2023 in the Novokoltsovsky district.
“We are waiting for the appropriate applications from Ekaterinburg with the participation of local businesses, since 1.5 thousand of the largest enterprises are located here. We will look at the possibilities of the federal budget to give a start to this project. I am absolutely sure that Ekaterinburg needs a new campus,” noted Mikhail Mishustin.
According to Victor Koksharov, rector of UrFU, the new buildings will house IT students, future technological entrepreneurs, economists and managers, as well as students of the university’s specialized training and research center.
“A campus for 8,500 people with the appropriate sports, residential and public infrastructure is being built for the university in preparation for the World Student Games-2023 in Ekaterinburg. We expect that the new campus will be supplemented with a system of modern academic buildings, which will enable us to organize project-based learning,” said Victor Koksharov.
Together with the regional government and local businesses, UrFU has begun to make a design and prepare documentation for the project. The project of the new academic buildings will take part in a federal competition for the construction of world-class campuses.
