Experts from Sri Lankan universities will take part in the V Forum on cognitive neuroscience, which will be held by the UrFU in December. The invitation was accepted today by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation Janitha Abeywickrema Liyanage.

“It is not only about the joint research of our psychologists. A possible area for cooperation is the education of Master’s and PhD students,” notes Victor Koksharov, Rector of UrFU.

The Head of the University and the diplomat, as well as Elvira Symanyuk, Director of the UrFU Ural Institute of Humanities, Sergey Tushin, Vice-Rector for International Relations, and Vladimir Smirnov, Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Ekaterinburg, discussed cooperation between the University and the republic in the tourism industry.

The discussion also covered issues of attracting Sri Lankan students to UrFU to study socio-cultural service and tourism, sociology, psychology, short-term programs and summer schools, as well as to study Russian at the Preparatory Department for Foreign Students.

It should be noted that Ammar Bashir, a PhD student at Ural Federal University from Sri Lanka, is currently working on education at the Faculty of Psychology: his work concerns the concept of Life-Long Learning.
