Ural federal university: Start of the Spring Semester – UrFU Comes Back to Offline With Mild Limits
Today, the spring semester has started at the Ural Federal University. Students and teachers resume studying in offline format. The maximum number of students is limited – 75 per lecture. Lecture courses with more than 75 students will be held on Microsoft Teams.
“The 75 students limitation is based on the quantity of seats in the classrooms, so that the students may not sit close to each other,” said Galina Kvashnina, Deputy Director for Educational Activities for organizing the educational process.
Online studies are fully preserved for part-time students and foreign students who cannot come to Yekaterinburg. There is an individual schedule for foreigners.
In addition, academic groups can continue distance learning in individual disciplines upon written application with the consent of all students of the group, the teacher and the management of the institute.
“Of course, we need to analyze what this year has given us. For example, the exam session showed an improvement in total: 50.5% of Ural Federal University students passed it without bad marks, an increase by 2.3% compared to 2019-2020 autumn semester. Some students note that it became easier for them, because there was more freedom – recorded live lectures could be watched and rewatched any time,” said Galina Kvashnina.
When spring comes, PE classes will be held outdoors. The stadium, open sports grounds of the university and adjacent territories are open for students.
Ural Federal University strictly adheres to all the necessary sanitary safety measures.
