On December 2, the meeting of rectors and representatives of the Ural Federal University and Taiyuan University of Technology (Taiyuan, Shanxi) took place online. Partner universities discussed key topics, including joint undergraduate and graduate programs in English and a plan for students’ recruitment. Currently, universities are admitting applications for the joint Master’s program in English “Electrical Engineering” in 2023-2024 academic year.

At the meeting, Victor Koksharov, rector of the Ural Federal University, pointed out that both universities with a hundred-year history are leading educational institutions in their regions and provide support for the social and economic development of the two countries, as well as the training of highly-qualified personnel for demanded industries. In return, Sun Hongbin, the Vice-president of administrative work of Taiyuan University of Technology, highlighted the potential of Shanxi province for the extraction of coal energy, as well as the university’s success in developing clean, low-carbon technology and usage of coal.

Since 2021, cooperation between two universities has been strong and fruitful. The promising area for joint recruitment is also the Bachelor’s program in Economics (International Economics and Business at UrFU) in English.
