Ural Federal University: Students and Young Scientists from 39 Countries Study Russian Historical Heritage
The Ural Federal University opened the IV International School of History of the Russian Historical Society. For five days, students and young scholars will expand their knowledge of Russian history and culture, meet renowned researchers, heads of academic institutions and leading universities. They will also visit major archives and museums and receive support for their own historical and educational initiatives.
“In recent years, the International Schools of History have become a good tradition for the Russian Historical Society. This demonstrates that the interest in the history of our country abroad is not fading, and the need for young researchers of Russian is only growing,” said Sergey Naryshkin, Chairman of the Russian Historical Society, at the opening of the school.
Sergey Naryshkin noted that the program of the school covers not only political, but also scientific, cultural, economic aspects of Russian history and its contribution to the development of neighboring countries and humanity as a whole.
“I expect that the knowledge you have gained about the past will help you to better understand the logic of current events, to orient yourself in the turbulent information flows, and to distinguish truth from fiction. Besides, try to have time to enjoy the beauty of the autumn Ural nature. Visit Ekaterinburg museums, take a walk on local streets. In the course of the centuries the Urals was the “bearing edge of the state”, each stone here is imbued with the spirit of history. I am sure that days spent on Ural land will be a wonderful memory for your whole life”, Naryshkin emphasized.
150 Russian and foreign students and young scientists from 39 countries participated in the school. The selection was made on a competitive basis. The school is divided into five thematic tracks: “History of Russian Economy and Industry”, “History of Russian Literature”, “History of Ancient Russia and Moscow Kingdom”, “History of the Great Patriotic War” and “History of the Russian Empire”. An intensive educational program, round tables and discussions, and a project competition are planned for each track.
