Ural Federal University: Students of the Russian-Chinese Program Have Defended Their Graduation Theses
Students of the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Civil Engineering, which UrFU implements together with the North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power, have defended their final theses. This is the first graduation from the China-Russia Institute of UrFU.
“Both students and teachers have a very responsible approach to the preparation of graduate qualification works, all works have a practical nature, which is especially important for the university,” said Sergey Knyazev, director of the Chinese-Russian Institute of UrFU and director of educational activities.
The diploma defense took place in a distance format: students were at a partner university in the PRC, while the examination committee met at the multifunctional resource center of UrFU’s educational activities.
“I am glad that UrFU, despite the limitations: the spread of coronavirus, closed borders, differences in educational systems and mentality of our countries, trains specialists on the fundamental basis of Russian construction education. I am proud of our education and our teachers,” stressed the chairman of the State Attestation Commission Igor Melnikov.
A total of 1,272 Chinese citizens are studying at the Chinese-Russian Institute of UrFU in nine joint programs with Chinese universities. Students who have mastered the Russian language well and successfully completed the educational program receive two diplomas, including a diploma from Ural Federal University.
“I was very nervous when preparing to defend my diploma. My diploma supervisor Oleg Mashkin supported me. I am very grateful to all the professors at UrFU who worked with me for two years, and especially to my academic advisor,” said student Zhang Ying.
