The Ural Federal University has signed an agreement on scientific cooperation and partnership with the Sverdlovsk Regional Museum of Local Lore. On February 28, the document was signed by Victor Koksharov, the Rector of the university, and Aleksandr Yemelyanov, the General Director of the museum.

At present the museum is working on the exposition “The House of Romanov and the Urals”. The exhibition will be opened in July 2023 in the museum and exhibition center “House of Poklewski-Kozell”. It will coincide with the 105th anniversary of the death of the royal family. Museum workers and scientists will conduct joint research on this topic.

“We thank the university for its support and interest. Cooperation is an opportunity to attract the best scientific personnel to solve global, serious issues that our museum has to deal with. We will grow together, develop our friendship and do everything for the good of our region and country,” said Aleksandr Yemelyanov.

Cooperation also includes other joint cultural and educational activities in the humanities and joint scientific activities. In addition, programs for the study, popularization and preservation of museum and cultural heritage objects, including architectural monuments, will be implemented.

“Our oldest museum is an important research partner for us. It is an important base for introducing our students to the rich history, nature, and culture of the Urals. We will do our best to ensure that as many students as possible get to learn the history of the Urals and its heritage at the museum’s exhibitions. Our historians and philologists will have internships within the walls of the museum and participate in joint research. Our teachers and researchers will create new research works on the basis of the museum’s archives,” Victor Koksharov emphasized.

The museum and the Ural Federal University have a long-term partnership. About two thirds of the Museum’s staff are graduates of the History Department and other departments of the university: Biology, Philology, Cultural Studies, Philosophy, Art History and Museum Studies.
