Ural Federal University: The University Sports Festival Awarded Project of the Year
The annual Stars of University Sports Ball took place in Moscow on November 26th. Traditionally, the Russian Student Sports Union honored athletes, educational institutions and sports organizations that have made a significant contribution to the development of physical culture and sports.
Ural Federal University received the main award of the ball – “Project of the Year”. Experts celebrated the International University Sports Day, which was held at the university in September. Athletes competed in 14 kinds of sports.
The guests of honor at the ball were Evgeny Shurmanov, director of the Ural Federal University Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Youth Policy and first vice president of the RSSU, as well as the university’s student-athletes who especially distinguished themselves this year.
“It’s a great honor for me to be among the best student-athletes of Russia and to be at such an event. I couldn’t have imagined something like this. I had a great time and I was charged with the motivation to achieve the best results in my chosen sport of jiu-jitsu”, said Alexander Silkin, a student, sharing his impressions.
Oleg Matytsin, Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation, Svetlana Zhurova, the first Deputy Chairperson of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, and Azat Kadyrov, the First Deputy Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation, addressed the audience with welcoming speeches.
