Ural Federal University: The University Will Strengthen Scientific and Educational Partnerships with Uzbekistan
Today the visit of Victor Koksharov, rector of the Ural Federal University, starts in Navoiy: the head of the university intends to discuss development of cooperation with the mining and metallurgical combine (MMC) and the mining institute (NMMI). The agenda includes the conclusion of agreements and, most importantly, a road map for reaching agreements in the scientific, technical and educational spheres.
The visit of the head of the university was preceded by the work of the delegation, whose members held a series of meetings with the plant’s employees and students of the Institute.
For example, Deputy Rector for the Development of Educational Activities Nikolay Khlebnikov spoke about educational trends and practices of their application at Ural Federal University – individual educational paths and project-based learning, while the Deputy Rector for International Relations Sergey Tushin talked about how Russian universities become drivers for regional development: here our colleagues from NMMI were interested in the university’s experience in external areas.
Professor Denis Rogozhnikov gave a lecture important for professional activities of employees of the plant about promising processing technologies of refractory sulfide raw materials of non-ferrous metals, and the Deputy Vice-Rector Aleksandr Ponomarev told about the social and pedagogical function of the university in the preparation of modern specialists.
“In Uzbekistan we have one of the strongest chapters of our alumni association. We have more than 300 graduates from the republic, and our visit and the agreements we reached with MMC and NMMI are largely the result of the active work of the chapter’s leadership. Together with our colleagues we will accomplish a number of tasks: from promoting the university to implementing projects aimed at preserving the historical memory,” said Ponomarev.
