Ural Federal University: Today UrFU Broadens Partnerships in Hungary – Rector to Hungarian Consul General

Ural Federal University launches a partnership program in conjunction with the Eotvos Lorand University in Budapest. Rector Victor Koksharov presented joint educational and scientific projects of the two countries today to the Consul General of Hungary in Yekaterinburg, Szandor Fabian.

“One of the master’s programs of the Ural Institute of Humanities (of UrFU) is devoted to European historical and cultural studies, and Eotvos Lorand University is one of the main partners of the program. We expect to strengthen cooperation in the historical field of Russian studies and to introduce enrollment for the partner program next year, ”said Victor Koksharov.

This program includes a semester of exchange studies at a partner university.

Alexander Palkin, Director of the Department of History, UrFU, spoke about the interaction of scientists from Russia and Hungary. According to him, students and post-graduate students of Eotvos Lorand University take part in the spring scientific schools of the department, listen to the courses of the department teachers in Yekaterinburg and Budapest. In 2021, the joint monograph “Soviet Man: Pros and Cons” was published, in which Hungarian specialists took an active part.

“The university is actively cooperating with joint efforts in Hungary, joint scientific research in the humanities is developing. We are determined to build on this cooperation. In particular, UrFU is ready to get involved in the training of specialists for the Paks-2 NPP project in Hungary,” Koksharov added.

According to the rector, the experience necessary in training qualified specialists for the new NPP has been accumulated by the Department of Nuclear Power Plants of the Ural Federal University. The teachers and researchers of the department are ready to train personnel for the Hungarian-invited project in the format of student exchanges, as well as in the role of experts.

During the meeting, the Consul General of Hungary in Yekaterinburg presented the Stipendium Hungaricum grant project for the training of Russian students in Hungary. Annually, thanks to a grant, 400 students participate in the exchange program – 200 from Russian funds and 200 from the Hungarian side.

“Historically, we have developed good relations, student exchange and scientific cooperation at different levels. We believe that there is an opportunity to deepen the interaction between our educational institutions ”, – Author Szandor Fabian.

As a result of the visit, Szandor Fabian accepted an invitation to visit the University of Autumn and Cultural Exchange by students of the Ural Humanitarian Institute of UrFU.
