Ural Federal University Trains Omani Specialists in Advanced Techniques

Specialists from the Sultanate of Oman visited UrFU. They spent a week in the Sverdlovsk region getting acquainted with research and practical experience in using local IT solutions that were selected in a competition to digitalize industrial parks in Oman.

The delegation included representatives of the state operator of Madayn Industrial Parks, the Oman Energy Association, specialists from a design and survey company, and a system integrator. The purpose of the visit was to participate in the training program “Digitalization of Spatial Development of the Municipality. Practical and methodological aspects”.

The guests were trained in geoinformation technologies and building information modeling developed and used in the Urals. Foreign specialists studied the approaches of research and development in the field of artificial intelligence implemented at the research center of the Engineering School of Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Control Systems and the Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture of UrFU, got acquainted with educational programs and the methodology of basic engineering training. They evaluated the digital ecosystem for managing urban planning and the land and property complex of Revda.

The guests were also told about the nuances of designing and managing the Ekaterinburg Industrial Park “Pro-Business Park” and were given a sightseeing tour.

According to the delegation representatives, an important element of the digitalization of industrial parks in Oman is the introduction of smart solutions for the automation of urban planning documentation, buildings, and engineering infrastructure.
