Ural Federal University: University and Enterprises to Strengthen Recruitment of Talented Targeted Students

Sverdlovsk industrialists offered to improve the system of target student enrollment, in particular, to expand the range of guarantees for target students, TASS reports. Rector of the Ural Federal University Victor Koksharov and heads of companies agreed on this at a meeting of the Industry Committee of the Sverdlovsk Regional Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.

Heads of regional industrial enterprises offered to strengthen the opportunities for applicants who choose target education: to compensate transportation costs, to appoint a mentor from the enterprise. The university is ready to provide additional support measures.

“The university should offer more opportunities for target students, more comfortable living conditions, and enterprises should make target students interested in career prospects, scholarships, internships, employment during training, especially in master programs,” noted Victor Koksharov.

According to the heads of enterprises, more talented applicants should be motivated to target education: winners of Olympiads and high scorers. Such target students will be offered research tasks and real work already during their studies at the university.

The Ural Federal University noted the successful experience of the program for stimulating talented first-year students: The Ural Federal University also gives increased scholarships of up to 30 thousand rubles to the students who entered the university with high Unified State Exam results or based on the results of school Olympiads. In addition, those enrolled for targeted training can participate in all scholarship programs implemented at the university.
