Ural Federal University: University and Navoi State Mining University Move to Active Stage of Cooperation
The Ural Federal University and the Navoi State Mining University (Uzbekistan) are ready to take the first steps in research and academic cooperation – the possibilities were discussed during the visit of a delegation from Navoi State Mining University to Ekaterinburg.
“It is important for our students to have contacts with the young scientists of Ural Federal University on a permanent basis. The first possible tool is joint publications and patents of the two teams. We see interest in cooperation not only from the specialized departments, but also from our lyceum,” said Ulugbek Ergashev, Chief Technologist of Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine.
Ulugbek Ergashev, a PhD graduate of the Metallurgical Faculty of Ural Polytechnic Institute (now UrFU), now Co-Chairman of the Uzbek Alumni Association, visited one of the six youth laboratories of the university, headed by the young PhD Denis Rogozhnikov, before meeting with the Rector Victor Koksharov and representatives of the university institutions and noted its prospects and the talented team of scientists.
“Now we should focus on mechanisms for financial and organizational support of such initiatives. In particular, it is possible to attract leading scientists from abroad to manage our laboratories. In addition, we are always open to your participation in our research and publication projects,” said Aleksandr Germanenko, Ural Federal University Vice-Rector for Research.
“Individualization of education, practice-oriented, the use of distance learning technologies will be the basis for the development of vocational training programs for Navoi State Mining University,” said Nikolay Khlebnikov, Vice-Rector for Academic Development.
Deputy Vice-Rector for International Relations Sergey Tushin reminded that the university is ready to send lecturers to Navoi State Mining University for a series of lectures, all that is needed is to return to the list of disciplines that are of interest to the Uzbek side.
Among Ural Federal University’s new cooperation offerings is the Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture’s flagship Master’s Program in Industrial and Civil Engineering, which includes a wide range of research, from technologies and structures to machine learning.
