Last week at Ural Federal University, the instruments for increasing the number of students from Tajikistan were discussed by Victor Koksharov, the Head of the University, and Davlatshoh Gulmakhmadzoda, the Ambassador of the Republic in Russia. In the next few years it is possible that the number of students will increase from the current 150 to 1,500.

“Russian higher education is in great demand among our young people. Our country intends to increase the flow of investments and open new production facilities in order to intensify industry. This requires high-quality training, and we see great potential of your university in a variety of areas,” the diplomat emphasized.

Hydropower, efficient use of water resources, climate research and preservation of glaciers, creation of new technologies are the main topics in which cooperation between the university and the republic will focus: both in the scientific sphere and in matters of education.

Noting such qualities of the Tajik students as diligence and striving for learning, Sergey Knyazev, Director of Academic Affairs of the UrFU, drew attention to their level of knowledge of the Russian language and suggested that the university could participate in the language training of high school students.

“University specialists in teaching Russian as a foreign language are highly qualified. Tajikistan can join the list of countries where we successfully prepare students to enter Russian universities such as China, Mexico, Mongolia, Egypt, India and other countries,” added Sergey Knyazev.
