Ural Federal University: University Renovated the Inzhek Cafeteria

At the beginning of the new academic year, the students of Ural Federal University received a completely renovated Inzhek cafeteria, located on the third floor in the right wing of the main academic building. The interior has been completely changed and has become more modern. Now it is both a canteen and a full-fledged co-working area. Another important change is that all utensils in the cafeteria are disposable, and breakfast or lunch can be taken away in plastic containers.

“We’ve streamlined workstations in the kitchen and service area. Switching to plastic utensils is also relevant because it greatly reduces the chance of transmitting viruses, bacteria. Many students take their meals with them. We use recyclable tableware and a separate organization will take care of its disposal. I really hope that our students and teachers will like the renovated cafeteria,” says Natalia Rakultseva, head of the catering facility.

The cafeteria is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. After that, until 10 p.m., the cafeteria will be used as a “Boiling Point of UrFU” – a space for scientists, businessmen, civil servants, community leaders, and students to share their experiences and work results, and to jointly work out new development models.

By the end of the year, the university plans to renovate at least two more canteens – in the buildings of the Engineering School of Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Control Systems and the Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture.
