Ural Federal University: University Scientists Participated in Creation of Demographer Professional Standard
The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Russian Federation issued Order № 346n “On Approving the Professional Standard ‘Demographer'”. Scientists from the School of Public Administration and Entrepreneurship of the Graduate School of Economics and Management at Ural Federal University took part in its development. The work on the preparation of the professional standard was organized by the Institute for Demographic Research – Branch of the Federal Center of Theoretical and Applied Sociology of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Demographic and Migration Problems of Russia Scientific Council, the research has been conducted since January 2021.
Among the organizers-developers of the document, along with other leading demographic research and educational centers of the country, were UrFU and Professor Anna Bagirova, the Head of the educational program of the Master’s program “Research and Analytics in Public Administration”, Graduate School of Economics and Management Deputy Director in Science and Innovation.
Demographic research is one of the main areas of study in this degree program. Professors and students work on research projects on demographic issues, supported by grants from research foundations. Every year the university defends Master’s theses on demography and demographic policy, and research continues in PhD programs.
The participation of Ural Federal University in the development of the professional standard “Demographer” demonstrates the recognition of the leading position of the university in the field of social policy research, training programs in which are concentrated in the School of Public Administration and Entrepreneurship at Graduate School of Economics and Management.
