Ural Federal University: University Student Became a World Champion in Scuba Diving

Stepan Vorobyov, a student of Ural Federal University, successfully performed at the World Apnea Championship as a member of the Russian national team. The championship was held in Serbia from June 21 to 27. Stepan won the world champion title in the 100m speed apnea discipline.

“This is his first world title! We are incredibly proud of Stepan,” said coach Tatiana Myasnikova.

In another discipline (apnea 8 over 50 meters) Stepan Vorobyov became the bronze medalist.

From July 3 to July 8, Stepan and Alexander Khudyshkin will participate on the Russian national team in the World Swimming Championships in Tomsk. From July 9 to July 11, they and four more Ural Federal University student-athletes will take part in international university swimming competitions in flippers.
