Ural Federal University: University Student Took First Place in Sails of the Spirit Inclusive Regatta

On June 11-12, XI Inclusive Sailing Regatta “Sails of the Spirit” took place. It was held in the yacht club “Lords of Sails” on two sites – on Lake Tavatuy and in the town of Zarechny on Beloyarskoye Reservoir. Boris Bredikhin, a student of Ural Federal University, became the winner.

“I really enjoyed the competition. I am very happy and proud of the award,” Boris shared his impressions.

The main idea of the event “Sails of the Spirit” is to develop the hidden talents of all participants through inclusive interaction. The regatta is held on professional SB20 yachts, and each team includes people with disabilities, professional yachtsmen and new volunteers. One of the organizers of “Sails of the Spirit” was UrFU. Students of the Department of Service and Tourism of the Institute of Physical Education, Sports and Youth Policy were volunteers of the holiday.

Boris Bredikhin, a student of the Institute of Open Education Technologies, participated in the race in a mixed team, where the captain was a professional yachtsman. The yacht race took place on Lake Tavatuy, seven teams fought for the victory.

“The Sails of the Spirit” sailing regatta is a unique inclusive event that gives all participants a huge charge of positivity and confidence that human capabilities have no limits,” notes Alyona Nevolina, Head of Academic Development at UrFU.
