Ural Federal University: University Students from Donetsk and Luhansk Will Receive Support

Yesterday the Academic Council of Ural Federal University has expressed its support for the policy of the President and the Government of the Russian Federation aimed at ensuring security guarantees for our country.

“The university community cannot remain an indifferent observer of the process of displacement of the Russian language, Russian culture from the territory bound to Russia by inseparable kinship, and destruction of people who respect their traditions, history, time-tested values,” says a special statement adopted at yesterday’s meeting.

The main governing body of the university is in solidarity with the residents of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as with the lecturers and students of all universities working in these republics.

“More than 60 students from Donetsk and Luhansk are currently studying at our university. We decided to allocate material support to students from Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics who are in Ekaterinburg, and we are ready to provide humanitarian aid to students and employees of universities of these republics who study and work in conditions of constant threat to their lives. We urge university faculty, staff, and students to be critical of extremist comments and information that is published today in a number of media outlets, social networks, and dubious Internet resources,” the statement reads.
