Ural federal university: UrFU and Minsk State Linguistic University Agreed to Extend Bilateral Ties
The sides expressed profound interest in implementing coordinated education programs and scientific collaboration based on the status of the two universities’ linguistics schools. Minsk State Linguistic University (MSLU) is a leader in the field of language education in the Republic of Belarus and firmly holds the leading positions in CIS countries. Currently, MSLU students can choose to learn one or two from the 22 languages taught in the university. For the Russian side, the Ural Federal University is ranked 274th in Arts & Humanities by broad subject area, and currently sits in the 250-300 group in QS World Rankings by subject for Linguistics, pursuing strategic goals to comprehensively develop the university’s departments – notably for this meeting – the UrFU Department of Linguistics.
“Thank you colleagues for this online meeting with today. We have here to discuss a broad spectrum of subjects. Ural Federal University has one of the best linguistic schools in Russia, probably the best in the regions. I am glad to propose you to prolong the program ‘Modern linguistic models: cognitive research’. Again, looking into the future, I am sure that we have all capabilities to develop new network-based double-degree programs partially implemented by both universities. We think this would be great. And let us not forget our scholars, let us agree upon topics for joint research,” suggested Rector Koksharov.
The sides have agreed upon the topics mentioned above. Rector Koksharov also suggested creation and adaptation of online courses for joint educational programs of UrFU and MSLU. Sides have also agreed upon scientific topics for joint research with the subsequent publication of the results in the form of collective monographs, joint collections of articles and materials of joint conferences.
