Yusufzai Mir Weiss and Abdul Basit Ahmadzai, students from Afghanistan, sparred with one of the best Russian boxers Mark Urvanov, holder of the WBA Gold (2020), WBO Asia Pacific Youth featherweight title (2016), WBC Eurasia Pacific Boxing Council featherweight title (2016) and Russian featherweight champion (2016). Yusufzai Mir Weiss even had the luck to win in a match against the Russian boxing star.

Yusufzai Mir Weiss arrived from Afghanistan in the Fall 2021 to study at UrFU Preparatory Department for Foreign Students. He has been boxing for five years and wants to become a champion. Yusufzai loves Russia and Russian culture that is why he chose UrFU as a prominent university offering many different opportunities for education and self-development.

Abdul Basit Ahmadzai is a third-year Bachelor’s student in Information Technology at Ural Federal University. With the help of UrFU, his sports life in Russia has begun. Abdul has two years of experience in fitness and more than two years in boxing.

“To become the best, you have to defeat the best,” Abdul says.

Both students have been recently enrolled at the RCC (Russian Copper Company) Boxing Academy.

“We are boxing together at the RCC Boxing Academy. For us it is a great experience. We thank everyone who helped us at Ural Federal University. Especially Aleksey Guss and Valery Fedyshin, teachers and coaches from the Department of Physical Education of the UrFU Institute of Physical Education, Sports and Youth Policy,” Abdul acknowledges.
